Teacher Receives Medieval Times Grant
 
Nancy See, an elementary art teacher, recently received the Medieval Times Art Fund grant.  A total of $3,112.00 was awarded to take the third graders from West Lee Elementary to Medieval Times in Myrtle Beach at the end of May.  Students are currently learning and creating art projects from the medieval time period.  Examples include creating their own illuminated manuscript letter, and using tissue paper to mimic stained glass.  This is the third time Ms. See has received the grant.

Bishopville Primary Student Attends Ceremony at Statehouse
 
On April 21, 2008, Larica Fortune, a third grade student at Bishopville Primary attended the Governor's Citizenship Awards Ceremony.  Larica was selected for the citizenship award for BPS.  The event was held at the Statehouse in Columbia.  A medallion and certificate were presented to her at the event. 

Fleming Lighthouse Recognized
 
The Fleming Lighthouse Center director and head custodian were presented an award for the Clean School of the Month for March.  Ms. Evelyn Reames is raising the bar when it comes to providing students a neat, clean and tidy environment for the students to learn.

Lee Central Hosts Career Wing Dedication
 
A dedication and ribbon cutting for the newly constructed career wing at Lee Central High School was held Monday, April 21, 2008.   The Lee Central High School JROTC and Chorus, student tour guides and district administration participated in the event.

Delegates Chosen for Palmetto Girls State
 
Jaimie Dubose and Rita Nielsen are the delegates from Lee Central High School representing the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 29 at the 62nd Palmetto Girls State.  Ashley Martin and Adrianna Bradley are the alternates.  Girls State is one of the most visible and dynamic programs sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary as it provides young women the opportunity to learn and experience government in action.
